Personality Test / Interview

Candidates who qualify in the written stages and meet the commission’s shortlisting criteria are called for the Personality Test. The referenced scheme assigns 250 marks to this stage, bringing the overall Mains merit and interview total to 2,000 marks. The interview assesses suitability for public service, including judgement, communication, awareness and personal qualities.

How marks affect selection

  • Prelims is a screening test; its marks are not carried into final merit.
  • Paper II (CSAT) is qualifying, with a minimum threshold under the notified scheme.
  • The Odia and English Mains papers are qualifying and are excluded from merit totals.
  • The seven Mains merit papers total 1,750 marks; the Personality Test adds 250.
